(October 2018) The Policy Foundation will host a fiscal policy forum Nov. 27  (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) at Heifer Village in Little Rock to examine ideas expected to be considered in the 92nd General Assembly (2019) of the state legislature. 

 

The forum will feature three panel discussions and lunch.  State Sen. Jim Hendren of Gravette will serve as luncheon keynote speaker.  He is chairman of the Arkansas Tax Reform and Relief Legislative Task Force.

 

The first panel (10 a.m.) will examine how tax revenue is diverted from road funding.  The panel will include Scott Bennett, Director of the Arkansas Department of Transportation.

 

The second panel (11 a.m.) will examine proposals to reduce the state income tax.  The panel will include economist Keith Berry, Ph.D., an Arkansas pioneer in this area of research.  Dr. Berry authored a 1998 study for the Policy Foundation.

 

The third panel (1 p.m.) will examine ideas considered by the Task Force including the earned income tax credit and grocery tax.  The panel will include Gregory Hamilton, Ph.D., of the Arkansas Economic Development Institute at UALR.
